How to Apply for Financial Aid:All students are encouraged to apply for the array of Federal and State Financial Aid programs offered at Solano Community College. By completing the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal FAFSA, students will automatically be considered for most federal and state programs.
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) should be completed and submitted online to the United States Department of Education processing center between January 1 and no later than the Solano Community College priority filing date of March 2. Students must apply for financial aid each year beginning January 1 – March 2.
After applying, students will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the U.S. Dept of Education by email or USPS. Students should review their SAR for accuracy and make corrections (if necessary) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Students must check their "MySolano" web account for their updated "Financial Aid Status". Any additional "Student Requirements" will be posted there. All "Student Requirements" must be completed and returned into the FAO for file review, packaging and awarding eligible aid. Additionally, the U.S. Dept of Education randomly selects FAFSA's for a process called "Verification" and students should be prepared to provide copies of their federal income tax return, W-2 forms and/or untaxed income received. It is the student's responsibility to check their "MySolano" web account for their current "Financial Aid Status" including their Student Budget, Awards, and Disbursement Schedule.
