SCC Identification Number (SCCID)
Beginning with the Spring 2007 registration
period, Solano Community College will begin using the SCC Identification
number (SCCID) as another method to identify you. Your SCCID
will be assigned shortly after the beginning of the Fall 2006 semester, upon
which time your social security number will no longer be used as your
primary identifier.
This legally mandated change will provide
an added layer of protection to combat the ever-increasing occurrences of
identity theft.
Students who apply for financial aid and
who deduct their eligible fees from their income tax are required by law to
provide the College with their social security number.
All Solano College students will be issued
their unique 9-digit SCCID that will begin with ‘000’. This randomly
assigned number has no connection to your social security number.

How will I get my
SCCID?
Students will be assigned their unique SCCID number during the Fall 2006
semester. We will mail your SCCID to your home address.
What number do I use
if I want to apply online?
If you submit an online application, you will need to enter your social
security number. The application does not require you to enter your SCCID.
If I am a new student,
how do I get an SCCID?
New students will receive this information by mail from the Admissions and
Records Office after an application for admission has been submitted.
What do I do if I
lose or forget my SCCID?
Go to the Admissions and Records Office with photo identification, and we
will give you your SCCID.
When I go to the
Admissions and Records Office, what number will they ask for?
When requesting services, you will be able to provide either your SCCID or
your social security number; however, we want to encourage you to memorize
and use your SCCID. All fee receipts and registration schedules will display
your SCCID. Your social security number has been removed from these
documents.
How will this
affect the way I register for classes?
You will not have to enter your SSID or your Social Security Number to register for classes. Once your application has been processed, you will be able to look up your SCC Username and Password. You will use your SCC Username and Password to register for classes on our new registration site called My Solano.

Is it safe to enter
my social security number on the internet?
Our website uses SSL 128-bit encryption to create a secure connection. No
clear-text or unencrypted information is exchanged; therefore, no information
can be read by anyone other than the intended recipient.
Do I still need to
provide my social security number to the College?
Yes. You are required to provide your social security number upon submission of an Application for Admission, or if you are applying
for and receiving financial aid, or if you intend to deduct your eligible
fees from your income taxes.
How will the College
use my social security number?
Solano Community College handles your social security number in a
confidential manner. Your social security number will be used for mandated
business functions such as tax reporting to federal and state government
agencies and will continue to be included on your transcript and
verifications of enrollment, since the
social security number is the common identifier used by Higher Education
Institutions.
